When planning long trips with kids, give them their own disposable camera to document their trip and share with their friends afterwards. Also, include a map of your planned route for them, so they can follow along on your trip. They can ask questions, trace the route with a highlight marker, and you can talk about geography - mountains, lake, states, cities coming up, etc. Older kids will love being included and following along.
